The classification of tuberculosis consists of four basic sections:
1.Clinical forms of tuberculosis
2.Characteristic of tubercular process
3.Complication of tuberculosis
4.Residual changes after the cured tuberculosis
1.Clinical Forms of tuberculosis:
The clinical forms of tuberculosis differ on localization, clinical and roengenological features with the consideration of Pathogenic and pathomorphological process.
1.1. Tuberculous intoxication of children and adolescents.
1.2.Tuberculosis of respiratory organs:
a) Primary tubercular complex
b)Tubercular broncho-adenitis
c)Disseminated lung tuberculosis
d)Miliary lung tuberculosis
e)Focus lung tuberculosis
f)Infiltrative lung tuberculosis
g)Caseous Pneumonia
h)Lung tuberculoma
i)Cavernous lung tuberculosis
j)Fibrotic-cavernous lung tuberculosis
k)Lung cirrhosis
l)Tuberculosis pleurisies (including empyema)
m)Tuberculosis of upper respiratory tract
n)Tuberculosis of respiratory organs combined with professional disease (Conio-tuberculosis)
1.3.Non-Pulmonary tuberculosis(Tuberculosis of other organs and systems):
a)Tuberculous meningitis – Central nervous system
b)Tuberculosis of intestines, peritoneum, mesenteric lymph nodes – Digestive system
c)Tuberculosis of bones and joints
d)Genito-urinal tuberculosis
e)Cutaneous and sub-cutaneous tuberculosis
f)Tuberculosis of peripheral lymphatic nodes
g)Eye tuberculosis
h)Tuberculosis of other organs
2.Characteristic of tubercular process:
It is specified according to the process of localization, clinical and roengenological signs, presence or absence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the diagnostic material of patient.
a)Localization and extent specified:
-In lungs according to lobes and segments
-In other organs according to the damage
b)Phase:
i)Infiltration,disintegration,dissemination
ii)resolution,condensation,scarring,calcification
c)Bacterial expectoration:
i)With Mycobacterium tuberculosis expectoration (MBT+)
ii)Without Mycobacterium tuberculosis expectoration (MBT-)
3.Complications of tuberculosis:
a)Hemoptysis and lung hemorrhage
b)Spontaneous pneumothorax
c)Lung-heart insufficiency
d)Atelectasis
e)Amyloidosis
f)Fistulas and other.
4.Residual changes after cured tuberculosis:
a)Respiratory organs – fibrous,fibrotic-focus,bullous-dystrophy,calcinates in lungs and lymph nodes,pleuro-pneumosclerosis,cirrhosis,conditions and after surgical operations and other.
b)Other organs – scarring changes in different organs and their consequences, calcification, condition after surgical operation.
