Patient,22,6ft,sexually active was admitted with a 4 week unexplained fever,no other complaints.2nd week of the fever,cbc showed neutropenia.4 days before admission cbc was normal and fever had abated.upon admission(after a relapse) he was put on iv ceftriaxone,aspirin and dextrose saline infusion.next morning,patient complained of profuse sweating in the night.fever had abated.the night of the 2nd day,sweat repeated though he had missed his evening dose of aspirin.on 3rd day patient was discharged after spending 2 nights.he took home cefuroxime and nothing else.6 weeks after fever hasnt returne and sweats too.patient is worried about those sweats.could it have been aspirin even though he missed an evening dose?or the infusion?or an infection?if yes,what infections?2nd week chest x ray showed regressing hilar node reaction.patient took hiv test on day of admission and was negative.
